Sirey Reyes
GMU/BA Foreign Languages, concentration in French, Chinese Minor
MY STORY
My name is Sirey Reyes, and I am currently pursuing a degree in Foreign Languages with a concentration in French and a minor in Chinese at George Mason University. My journey to higher education has been filled with sacrifice, determination, and love. I moved to the United States from Latin America when I was just fifteen years old, leaving behind my parents, my home, and everything familiar to live with extended family. I chose to study languages because I believe in their power to connect people and change lives. I am fluent in Spanish and French and currently learning Chinese. My goal is to help break the cultural and linguistic barriers that prevent immigrants, especially women, from accessing services, education, and fair treatment. I want to serve both the local and global community by offering interpretation, translation, and cultural support in schools, hospitals, legal systems, and beyond.
