Mohammad Arsal Asam

My name is Mohammad Arsal Asam, and I am a full-time student at George Mason University pursuing a
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Cybersecurity and a minor in
Theater Performance. After transferring from Northern Virginia Community College through the
ADVANCE program, I have continued working toward my academic and professional goals while
balancing employment, leadership, and campus involvement. I currently maintain a 3.43 GPA while
managing the responsibilities of full-time coursework and employment.

I have worked hard to make the most of the opportunities provided to me by remaining committed to my education and becoming more involved on campus. After working as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools, I recently accepted a position as a cashier at Wegmans while continuing my full-time studies at George Mason University. These work experiences have strengthened my communication, adaptability, leadership, teamwork, customer service, and time-management skills while helping me continue supporting myself financially.

This year has been especially meaningful because I founded the Acting Club at George Mason University
and currently serve as its President. Through this role, I organize meetings, coordinate activities, and
create opportunities for students to develop their acting skills and build connections with one another.
Since its founding, the club has grown to more than forty members. I have also participated in auditions,
an online reading of 1001 Plays, and outreach events for incoming students. These experiences have
strengthened my leadership abilities and commitment to building a supportive campus community.

My long-term goal is to build a career in cybersecurity while continuing to pursue my passion for the
performing arts. In addition to completing my degree, I plan to earn industry certifications such as
CompTIA Security+ and gain practical experience that will prepare me for a career protecting
organizations from cyber threats.
