MY STORY
My name is Siri Nikku. I am a senior at George Mason University, pursuing a Bachelor's in Science in Community Health and minoring in LGBTQ+ Studies with a goal of becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). I was inspired by a Physician Assistant who worked with me to control a personal health problem. I realized I wanted to support patients with managing their health in the same way. My core reason for becoming a PA lies in the health disparities queer individuals, like myself, have faced. The discomfort I felt in several medical spaces, as well as seeing the lack of inclusion for LGBTQ+ patients, are aspects of the healthcare system I would like to improve. I hope to pursue my Master's in Physician Assistant Studies, as well as a Master's in Public Health, so I am able to combine my knowledge of preventative health and medicine with my desire to fight for all patients to be heard and cared for regardless of their background.
